Welcome

Let me introduce myself. I'm Dom Serafini, editor and publisher of VideoAge, an English-language trade magazine for the international television industry, with offices in New York, Los Angeles and Milan, Italy.

Dom is short for Domenico, and it's the name of both my paternal grandfather and grandmother (Domenica).
Before founding VideoAge in 1981, I was the editor of TV/Radio Age International, in New York and, before that, at the age of 18, in 1968, I was the U.S. correspondent of JCE Publications in Milan. I'm still a contributor to one of JCE's publications, Millecanali.
In addition, since 1993, I've been an opinion writer for AmericaOggi, the U.S. Italian-language daily; since 1994, I've contributed regularly to Il Sole 24 Ore about television; since 2000 I've written the column AbruzzoAmerica  for the daily Il Messaggero and, since 2003, I've written for the daily Corriere Adriatico. I'm also a contributor for the weekly Il Cittadino Canadese of Montreal, the Canadian TV network, TLN, and Mexican magazine Punto d'Incontro. In 2000, I was given the official title of consultant to the Italian Ministry of Communications for audiovisual and international television.
My most ambitious project was a 1994 proposal to reform Italian television, introduced with the book: "'O Sole Mio -- It's Now or Never. A Plan to Restructure the Italian TV System." It was a proposal of a technical nature that some Italian politicians derailed for misguided reasons.
Up until recently, my commitment was tied to the introduction of digital terrestrial television –– a commitment that began in 2001 with my presentation to the IBC conference in Amsterdam of a report titled "The 10 Commandments For the TV of the Future," which was subsequently published in its entirety by RAI.

These Web pages gather material of a few of the past years that I mentioned above, but I hope that they will help you to understand the complex mechanisms that regulate the media and my relationship with the Italian community in North and Central America.

I also hope that the information found in these Web pages will persuade you that I will be your best representative in the Italian Parliament. Since most of these pages are in Italian, www.babelfish.altavista.com  will assist you with the English translation.
